According to my physio, my knee problems are caused by my thigh bones which are turned outwards slightly, meaning my feet naturally point outwards also.
Apparantly this incurable birth defect is the reason why I waddle when I walk (think Harry Enfield's Scousers).
It means I am putting pressure on my outer knees every time I run. I'll probably always have knee issues. And always walk like a duck. Nightmare!
I have carried on regardless and last week I completed three 5 mile runs and one 9 miler. Pain and people laughing at my running style are now second nature to me.
This week I'm doing 5 miles ,6 miles,1 hour circut training + 3 Miles, then 11 miles.
Then it's full on Carbo Loading - no carbs from Sunday to Thursday, then lots and lots of carbs up to race day.
I can finally make use of all those pieces of bread people have been throwing to me!

ha ha! I am looking forward to picking you out of the 50,000 crowd at GNR through your running style!
I wouldn't worry too much- I have also been told that my legs are slightly different lengths - I don't think this helps my running style either
Hi Joe,
it sounds like the training is going to plan, or at least it sounds like you have done the mileage. I would not worry about your running style - just go with what feels natural. Good luck with the carbo loading, I would say that it is also really important to stay well hydrated.
Keep on running!
Well I am very glad you decided to go for it and I am looking forward to cheering you on in Newcastle! Keep training and see you soon, Sandy
Good to see you on Weds Joe. Sorry I forgot to check out how the running is going. Best of luck for the taper week!
Don't worry about the running style - it makes you look special!
