I had a great training run on Sunday - 10 miles. I made sure it was a hilly course so that I don't get any nasty surprises on Sunday. I finished the 10 miles in 90 minutes and was amazed by how good I felt at the end.
I have been thinking about how my endurance has improved, and I put it down to pre and post race preperation.
About an hour before my long runs I will have a banana, a Lucoazde Energy Bar and around 300mls of Lucozade Sport. I have also been using the Lucozade Carbo Gel during my long runs. I swig it down with some Lucozade Sport at around 7 miles and it really does give you that second wind.
This is how I will prepare for Sunday's run, and I reckon my finishing time will be somewhere between 1:59:59 and 2:15:00. The difference will be determined by how well the next few days go....

good race strategy Joe- always a good idea to be prepared, and know exactly which products work for you on the day.
We all have absolute faith you will get round in sub 2hrs! PMA!

OK Joe, looks like you've got it nailed, just be wary of going after a time too much in the GNR as the roads are really packed and it can take a while to get into a rhythm. But the 10miles at the w/e sounded great - so confidence is high! Enjoy the day.
Joe - dressed as a ladyboy or a duck you are going to have a fantastic race and enjoy every minute! You sound so well prepared - way better than me - and both your training and nutrition plans look spot on. All the hard graft really pays off on race day so just make sure you take everything in - soak up the atmostphere and remember at all times the great cause that is behind all this running lark. All the best mate - will be thinking of you and look forward to a beer at the end! Sal x
Mate, you are all over this running malarky! Having a race plan in place is the way to go, so no surprises or last minute panic come race day.
All the best for Sunday mate - you are going to be a star!
Quack x
